Things Went Awry When Jenna Bush Brought Her Kids to Work: Watch

Things didn’t exactly go according to plan when Jenna Bush Hager brought her young daughters to work.

Hager, who is currently filling in for Hoda Kotb during Today’s fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford, was joined by her girls Mila, 4, and Poppy, 2, on Monday, February 19, and they totally stole the show.

Gifford, 64, and Hager, 36, were discussing Hager’s kid-free getaway to Mexico with her husband, Henry, when Poppy and Mila shared their thoughts. “Mama has a cat!” exclaimed Poppy from the audience, where she was seated on her dad’s lap. Then the sisters marched over to their mom as cameras rolled.

“I brought them because . . . they were off of school and I wanted them to come but this was a terrible idea!” Hager cracked.

Poppy, who refused to leave Hager’s lap, again repeated: “Mommy has a cat.”

“I don’t even have a cat anymore!” Hager laughed.

“Maybe she got one over the weekend when you were gone!” replied Gifford.

But Poppy and Mila still weren’t done. They kept repeating the phrase throughout the segment about forgiveness — until the entire audience was clapping and chanting, “Mommy has a cat!”

“Kathie Lee is very patient, but you are testing her patience,” Jenna explained. “Have you ever seen Kathie Lee mad?”

For her part, she was just relieved that the kids didn’t disclose anything more embarrassing.

“This has gone awry! I’m sweating. I’m sweating,” Hager admitted. “At least they chose to say ‘mommy has a cat.’ What if they said something else?”

Finally, dad Henry summoned Mila back to her seat — though Poppy remained snug on Hager’s lap!
